Snow Lovers . . .

Snow lovers like me are wondering when it will snow.

via

Most of us here up north love snow. We wouldn't live here if we didn't. Sure some times we complain about it and we like the perfect snow. Light and fluffy, not too heavy and not during rush hour. We have had only two small snowfalls here in the Minneapolis area this winter. Yesterday it was 52 degrees! Our little lake had pools of water on top of the ice. Several events in the area are threatened with cancellations or delays because of our lack of snow. This doesn't happen often, I believe the last time we had similar conditions was 2002.

My back yard two weeks ago, grass still green. It has since turned more brown.

Whatever the reason for our lack of snow, we don't like it. Many of us plan our winter vacations in tropical spots so we can get away from all the snow. Nothing like rubbing it in to the relatives, " Oh so sorry it is 20 below zero there in Fargo, we are enjoying sunny weather here in Ft. Meyers and it is 80 degrees!" we tell them, chuckling to ourselves. When we return from our trip the cold air hits us as we get off the plane and walk up the jet way to the terminal. We know we are back in Minnesota. In just a few days we are back into the shoveling and enjoying the fact that after our little break we are now a couple of weeks closer to spring.

We are being deprived of this contrast in environments. Now instead of beautiful pristine snow, I look out and see brown trees, plants and grass. Usually my unkempt garden is covered with snow and looks beautiful. I wish I had cleaned it up better this fall. Some of my hardy plants still have green leaves. I fear for their lives as the snow helps to insulate them from the cold temperatures which come and go.

So if you are like me, and you miss the snow, here are a few lovely images by some fellow Minnesotans of what it should be like here this time of year. Enjoy the snow, and then a cup of tea or cocoa next to the warm fire when you get back inside.

How Is Your New Year Going So Far...

Are you a bit like Dotty?

Now that the holidays are over are you feeling a bit let down or even bored?
Feeling a little of those post holiday blues?

Are you feeling a little tired because you were working so hard
to get everything done throughout the holidays?

Maybe you are a little more irritable than usual? Oooh, and maybe
a bit of indigestion (not to mention pounds) from all those extra treats!

You didn't go out on New Years Eve and celebrate too much, did you!!

Maybe you are already tired of winter.
Let's think about a nice warm vacation spot for a moment.
***sunshine  warm***sandy beach***ocean breeze***umbrella drink***mmm nice.....

Here is how Dot handles her stressful life.
(Bye the way, she does this on her own.)

Haven't we all done this at least once!
Time to relax friends and get back to our regular routines.
Don't hide under your blanket too long. We have another whole year to try and get
everything done that we want to get done. Another whole year to enjoy and have fun
and make the most of what we have. But I know we all have days like this so do what
makes you feel better and hope for better days ahead.

Oh baby it's cold outside!
Dotty can hardly wait for spring!

What makes you feel better? Is it reading a book, hanging out with
friends and family, cooking, crafting, going for a walk? All of the above!
